The Integrated Full-Body Massage

There are over 200 different modalities, or styles of massage being practiced throughout the world today.  The various techniques employ different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more.

The type of massage that I offer is a combination of modalities based on each client's needs.   Most sessions start with a gentle rocking of the body.  This helps me to determine which specific areas of the clients' body need more attention.  To relax the body and calm the nervous system, I generally start wit flowing strokes.  Once exterior muscles are relaxed, pressure is increased and I begin to work on more specific areas of the body.  The massage is generally finished up with a relaxing facial massage and gentle circulation balancing.

Types of strokes to expect during a full-body massage:

Effleurage - Broad, flowing stroke used to calm the nervous system and ease exterior muscle tension.

Petrissage - Lifting, wringing stroke that is slightly deeper than effleurage.  It is also used to ease muscle tension.

Friction - Deeper, more deliberate stroke with smaller movement than effleurage and petrissage.

Vibration - Deepest strokes with more pressure and slight vibratory motion.  These are used to tone and relax deep muscle groups.

Compression - Squeezing strokes that can vary from light to deep.  Compression stimulates circulation and increases blood flow to muscles and tissues.

Tapotement - Tapping or chopping strokes made with the hands or small rubber mallets.  Used to 'wake up' the nervous system and to increase circulation.

Clients who choose to come to my studio pay just $65.00 for a 1-hour full-body integrated massage.  Additional time is priced at $1.00 per minute per session.
